Lightness of being

Is our view admired? Do people we speak to admire our passion? No they don’t. They see us as masochists.
Do omnivores want to agree with us? No they certainly don’t, because they can’t imagine how life could be fun if you had to give up the delights of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Chocolate.
Maybe vegans have a warped perception of the omnivore mind. We think they’ll listen if we push them hard enough. But it hasn’t worked so far. To date, few of them have gone vegan. Perhaps it’s the ‘sin’ of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk that holds them back? Along with countless other sins.
As a percentage of the (whole) population (of our own country) vegans are a tiny minority. Hugely tiny. In most other countries vegans are almost non-existent.
Perhaps things will stay this way for yet awhile, till we can break through the communication barrier. Firstly, we have to drop this judgemental hang up most of us still have. We have to learn to talk carefully and calmly about these issues concerning animal foods and animal exploitation. Yes, we might well have been angry, outraged, disgusted, etc but it hasn’t had much effect on the general population. I suppose most of us had to get angry to find out how worthless anger really is. If we’re serious about getting people to be animal conscious we’ve got to show a lightness of being in the form of patience ... in order to win people over, people who live most of their time in a cloud of impatience and restless intolerance.
